The Jungle Book temple ruins is just one of many art installations Misfits Unified has been tasked to create for Pueblo Colorado, a retreat center venue in the high jungle of Peru. When conceptualizing the project firepit we first drew inspration from Rudyard Kipling's 'The Jungle Book' story to create temple ruins scene.

The objective of the artwork was to create a magical outdoor environment to allow groups of up to 40 people to enjoy evening events in the beautiful, open setting while preserving the natural high jungle surroundings. While the Misfits Unified team initially drew our inspiration from the ancient monkey temple ruins from "The Jungle Book" story, we took our inspiration even further and incoropated various sculpted ganeshas on the front facade, the main wall and on the columns to enhance the effect and the cultural relevance given the story's setting in the jungle of India.

Many of the main characters from the story are playfully positioned around the temple such as Baloo playing the harmonica in one back corner, Bagheera playing the bagpipes (ironically made from Sher Khan's tiger skin) in the other back corner, Kaa coiled in the center enveloping the firepit and Mowgli sitting on top of one of the front columns singing into a microphone. Additionally various monkeys and orangotans are scattered all around the temple playing musical instruments including the keyboard, guitar, tambourine, a majestic concert harp, congo drums and a violin all around the temple.
